Weekly Report

Intro

While some of the data points are trending slightly downwards, that by no means suggests that a break in the genocide, nor anything like justice is on the horizon. Methodically, systematic, and well-articulated violence continues to shape the contours of every Palestinian city, town, and village. This is just a small snapshot of Jan 15th .

The Israeli forces added new key checkpoints, disrupting traffic flow and daily life across Jerusalem. In Al-Eizariya, Israeli forces continue to engage in night raids and house searches. Jerusalem's Governor, Adnan Ghaith, faced a renewed deportation order. Settlers continue with their program to change the status quo at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, with armed incursions.

In Ramallah, the closure of the Al-Mahkamahee checkpoint and the establishment of temporary checkpoints disrupted movement. The Israeli forces conducted several raids in Beitin, Al-Jalazoun camp, and nearby towns, resulting in multiple arrests and property confiscation. Israeli forces executed two Palestinian teenagers near the "Beit El" settlement.

Nablus faced similar disruptions with tightened security at various checkpoints. The most impactful event occurred at An-Najah National University, where Israeli forces arrested 25 students during a campus raid. This action led to confrontations, injuring a resident, Misbah Ziad Bitar. Additionally, settlers attacked the outskirts of Burin village, targeting a civilian's home and vehicle.

Notes

This data is aggregated mostly from Palestinian resources, namely the Negotiations Affairs Department. It represents but a small cross-section of the violence intentionally enacted by Israel's program of indigenous erasure. It doesn't account for every sexual harassment or assault at Israel's checkpoints, the looting that happens during raids, or every psychological threat the Israeli state carries out, whether that be direct phone calls to individuals and their families or Israeli MKs cheering on genocide on live tv, radio, and print.

This is curated data represents Israeli colonial violence reported from 12.09.2023 to 01.15.2024. The 5-day average is compiled from 01.11.2024 to 01.15.2024 and the 10-day average calculated from 01.06.2024 to 01.15.2024. The percentage of +/- of the 5-day average is calculated from the difference in the 5-day and 10-day averages.

As we move forward, we'd like to hear if this data was helpful, how you might use it, and what other information you'd find useful for your work in support of Palestinian liberation.

Please email me your thoughts and ideas.

In addition, as we are working to centralize this data and others on a new website, you can help advance that by making a monetary contribution to the Good Shepherd Collective. You can do that here through this link.
